Fire camp. Then the line.

You will leave Roundup — or fly if that is what the dispatch needs — live in camp, and run a Type 2 or Type 3 tender on the incident. The LMTV 4×4 is the non-CDL truck. The Peterbilt and GMC take a CDL, tanker endorsement, and a stick.

What the job requires

  • Travel to the incident — this is not a stay-home bulk-water job.
  • Stay in fire camps for the assignment. Tours can run up to 14 days.
  • Wear PPE on the line and around the trucks.
  • Fill engines from the tender.
  • Dust control on roads.
  • Off-road driving, including the LMTV 4×4.
  • RT-130 annual fireline training.

Who should call

  • Drivers who want wildland fire response only. Season is June through October.
  • Ready to leave on short notice. Fast response to a dispatch means more days worked.
  • RT-130 current, or call us about getting it before a dispatch.
  • $450/day non-CDL on the LMTV 4×4. $550/day CDL on the Peterbilt and GMC (Class B or better, tanker, stick).
  • Able to live in camp with a tent and sleeping bag. We feed you in camp and issue PPE.

  • No on-call pay. Travel days are not paid.
  • Nationwide dispatch from Roundup. Airline or mileage if travel is required.
